Contact X

ContactX Inc.

How To Use ContactX

To successfully access the application you can set the secret PIN to 123 (for example), or you can choose any other numeric value.

To check the "Synchronize", and "Friend Finder" features, you will need a username and password.

The Contact-X application has serveral features, each with it's requirements:

1) Contacts Management (add, delete, edit):

  • the application has access to the iPhone's Address Book so that the user can import contacts from the Address Book to the Contact-X app.
  • after a contact is imported in Contact-X app the user can EDIT person details, or DELETE the person.
  • the user can also add a new person by clicking on the "Add" button in the top right corner. The contact cannot be created without completing the "First Name" field and one telephone number.

2) Synchronize contacts:

  • to acomplish the synchronization process the application needs access to the iPhone's internet connection. If no internet connection is detected, an alert message is displayed notifying the user of this issue.
  • to use the synchronisation feature the user must create an account on our cloud system.
  • to create this account the user must go to the "Settings" tab , click on "Synchronize" button, and, in the next screen, click on "Register" button. In the registration screen the app user must enter an username, an email address and a password in the form.
  • the account information is validated remotely, and if the account is valid, it will be created, and the user will be notified. On the other hand, if the account is not validated an error message will be displayed.
  • after the account has been created, the app user must go to Settings" => "Synchronize" and enter his username and password.
  • the next step is to click on "Synchronize" button. A notification message appears on the iPhone screen that notfies the app user of the current status of the sync operation (Connecting, Synchronizing etc).
  • the synchronize process functions in this manner: the ContactX app data is checked against our cloud based system, and, if there are any inconsistencies, the missing data will be transfered between the iPhone and the cloud system.

3) Friends Finder: you can check which of your friends are in your proximity.

  • the "Friends Finders" feature needs access to the iPhone's Geo-Location API.
  • this feature also requires the application to be connected to an active account, as described at Synchronize contacts. If not such account is found, a notification meessage is displayed to the app user.
  • Friends Finder works like this: when the app user clicks on "Find Friends" button, the application verifies if the Geo-Location is active on the iPhone. If it's not active, a notification message is displayed.
  • if the Geo-Location is active when the "Find Friends" is clicked, the Longitude and Latitude data is sent to our cloud system and checked against other active users that are in the promoximy of the app user.
  • the app user can also change the range of friends search, selecting values between 50m and 2000m. This can be done from the selector labeled "Range".
  • a subfeature of "Friends Finder" is the "Friends Radar" option.
  • The Radar option works like this: if it's active, when the application goes into background state (the user clicks on home button), a process is started that performs a proximy check at every 5 minutes. This check is the same action as when the user clicks on "Find Friends" button. If there are friends in his proximity a notification is triggered. That way, if this option is active, the app user is allways notified that some of his friends are in his proximity.
